JIMTOF 2026, Buffoli Industries will present its vision of this technological transition: moving from production environments based on multiple conventional machines to
flexible, integrated and highly automated manufacturing systems.
FROM MANY MACHINES TO ONE INTEGRATED PROCESS
For decades, high-volume production has relied on multiple machines, dedicated processes and significant operator involvement.
Today, full CNC technology, integrated automation and advanced process control make it possible to combine
high productivity with greater flexibility, reducing changeover times, intermediate handling and operator dependency.
The objective is not simply to replace an old machine with a new one.
It is to rethink the entire manufacturing process.
NEW MATERIALS REQUIRE NEW MACHINING TECHNOLOGIES
The transition is also being accelerated by the evolution of materials.
Buffoli has developed extensive experience in
lead-free brass and stainless steel machining, through numerous applications both from
bar stock and cast or forged parts.
These materials place new demands on machining processes in terms of
rigidity, precision, chip evacuation, coolant management and surface quality.
Buffoli's technological development addresses these requirements while maintaining the productivity expected from high-volume manufacturing.
HIGH-PRECISION TURNING. SUPERIOR SURFACE FINISH
Another important part of this evolution is Buffoli’s extensive experience in high-precision rotating-workpiece machining and superior surface finishing.
A significant example is TRANS-SPHERE, a vertical-axis manufacturing system developed for the production of precision balls for ball valves.
The machine can produce balls in different materials, including
lead-free brass and stainless steel, directly from bar stock, with bar loading and cutting integrated into the machine. Turning and diamond cutting are combined with drilling, milling, broaching and off-center machining. Its turning and diamond-cutting station is designed to avoid vibration transmission, supporting precision and surface quality.

TRANS-SPHERE has confirmed in real production applications the
versatility, efficiency and precision of this manufacturing concept, including the production of diamond-finished lead-free brass balls and stainless-steel balls directly from bar stock.
